Oakland

Oakland is a large and diverse city and has many different neighborhoods but we wanted to highlight a few that are commonly talked about and could help in a real estate search.

Lake Merritt & Adams Point

The neighborhoods surrounding Lake Merritt are extremely vibrant and hip.  In the last five years the area has seen many new restaurants and stores move in.  Most famously characterized but the lake itself, many people enjoy walking the 3-mile path circumnavigating the water.  There are many condos and apartments that surround the lake and offer great views of the water.  Nestled in between the condos you might find older craftsman style single family homes that are generally gems.

Montclair

Nestled on the northeast side of highway 13 sits Montclair.  This neighborhood is known for its quaint village (home to Compass’s Oakland office) with lovely shops and restaurants.  Many of the homes in Montclair are characterized by their wooded setting and many homes boast killer views.  Known as one of Oakland’s safer neighborhoods, Montclair Village is also family friendly due to it's outstanding elementary schools.  Don't miss the Montclair Village Farmer's market on Sundays!

Temescal

Temescal is known for its walkability to exceptional culinary experiences.  Situated next to the extremely popular Rockridge, this area began as a “next best thing” and with the influx of residents has come amazing new stores and restaurants that have made it unique and cool in its own right.  Temescal Alley is a great representation of the neighborhood that attracts emerging artists and creative retailers.

Glenview & Oakmore

The neighborhoods of Glenview and Oakmore are situated on the east side of Park Boulevard. While Glenview is characteristically more of a walking neighborhood and Oakmore is better know for it’s homes with big views- both are lovely places to call home. Their close proximity to Park Boulevard allows residents to enjoy the shops and restaurants while also offering easy access to highway 13 and I-580.

NOBE

The hip area referred to as NOBE stands for the neighborhood where North Oakland, Berkeley and Emeryville all meet.  Close to BART and multiple freeways, its location is great for the urban commuter.  Considered an emerging neighborhood, new retail and restaurants are continually popping up
