Berkeley
Berkeley is a large city that commonly known for the unique flair of its residents and the University of California Berkeley. Berkeley reaches from the hills all the way to the waterfront and everything in between. It is home to a highly acclaimed Repertory Theater, Berkley Museum of Modern Art, Lawrence Livermore Hall of Science, the wonderful recreational facilities of Tilden Regional Park and so much more. Because of its vast area there are many different neighborhoods, we have highlighted a few larger and popular ones.
ClaremontThis upscale neighborhood has always been one of the most desirable locations to live in the East Bay. It includes the Claremont Hotel and Berkley Tennis Club as well as interesting shops and restaurants.

Gourmet GhettoSituated in North Berkeley, this neighborhood gets its unique name from the excellent restaurants in the area. Alice Water’s Chez Panisse on Shattuck Avenue is at the heart of this neighborhood making the Gourmet Ghetto the epicenter of the “farm to table” movement and the foodie culture that permeates the East Bay. Residents love this neighborhood not just because of the great food but also because of the passion, atmosphere and uniqueness that the culinary culture has brought along with it.

Berkeley HillsThe Berkeley hills are home to stunning views and architecturally significant properties. This area has attracted professors and academics with its winding road and quiet streets. Locals enjoy the presence of the Rose Garden and Indian Rock Park.

Fourth StreetFourth Street was originally an industrial area but in more recent years we have seen the warehouses changing into artist workshop, live/work housing and even wineries and breweries. This neighborhood is flat which makes for easy walking to the wonderful shops and restaurants of Fourth Street of which the neighborhood is known for. Housing opportunities include single family home, warehouse lofts and chic new condos.

ElmwoodThe Elmwood District is a highly desirable neighborhood in the flats of Southern Berkeley. It boasts walkability to the retail and restaurants of College Avenue and Ashby Avenue. Many of the areas brown shingle and craftsmen style homes were built in the 1900s after the San Francisco earthquake as a respite from the construction and cool summers of the city. The Elmwood is a small jewel of a neighborhood centered between the heart of Rockridge and the the south side of the UC Berkeley campus.
